1. Wahl Lithium Ion Pro Best selling Cat Hair Clippers Kit
1,077+ customer reviews
One of the best things about this pet clipper called Wahl Lithium Ion Pro Grooming Kit is in its name. With the ‘kit’ tag comes the promise of giving the user all they need to have right out of the box and they deliver on that promise.
Alongside the main clipper itself, there is a slew of accessories to make each grooming operation count. For one, there are color-coded combs in the setup. This will allow you find and stick to the right one for your cat’s coat.
While functioning well in its capacity as a cat hair clipper, the tool does one more in offering self-sharpening blades. It also proves to be one that can be taken on the road with you. For that, the clipper offers as much as a 2-hour run time. When the battery does go to drain, a 15-minute quick charge time feature gets you up and running in no time at all.
Coupled with the flexibility to groom anywhere, its relatively silent sound makes it easy to groom your cat without getting it all jumpy
2. Sminiker Rechargeable Cordless – Beautiful Cat Clipper design
687+ customer reviews
Living up to its branding as a low noise clipper is this Sminiker Rechargeable Cordless Cat Clipper. If there are any two things that can be picked from the name, it should be that this is not only a cat clipper but also a cordless one. That is sure to get some cat parents excited.
What will get you even more excited is the full toolkit which brings such things as a pair of scissors, comb, power adapter, lubricating oil bottle, nail file and clipper, clipper teeth combs and the main unit itself, among other things.
For heavier cuts, the clipper has been specially modified to handle such tasks. To ensure you don’t cut your pet while grooming it, you will also find the R-shaped edge design useful.
On close observation, it can be seen that the blades of the clipper were made with high grade titanium. The interesting thing is that you don’t have to worry about sharpening the metal since it prevents itself from getting blunt.
Coupled with a precision motor, it is amazing how Sminiker was able to keep the vibration to a minimum and the noise level under 50dB. Followed closely by a 2-year warranty, a good power optimization plan means you don’t have to worry about spikes in power rates when you plug in the clipper.
3. Oster A5 Two Speed – Best USA Grooming Clipper
1,912+ customer reviews
For those that don’t like to stress themselves with power settings and speed levels, you will find the highly adaptable Oster A5 Two Speed Grooming Clipper a good choice. This is because the clipper comes with options to set the speed to either high or low only, making things effectively easier on the user.
Made possible with just the flip of a switch, the changing of speed settings makes it possible to deal with sensitive areas with high precision without having to pause at all.
Likewise, it is very big on safety. This is echoed in the fact that users can detach the blade after each use. On another hand, that makes for easy changing of the blades.
Coming with the first blade and a one-year warranty to match, there is nearly nothing on this aesthetically-pleasing unit that we are not happy with.
4. Wahl ARCO Cordless – Best Pet Clipper Kit Amazon’s choice
363+ customer reviews
Yet another one from Wahl is this ARCO Cordless Pet Clipper and just like the first one, comes with a full kit set. Operating on a cordless technology that makes for easy handling and storage, this one has been designed to take care of the most sensitive parts of your cat’s body.
For example, you can now use this handheld clipper to take care of your cat’s face, nose and ears without having to worry about cuts. Likewise, it is very useful for cleaning the hair around the paws, clearing up the muzzle and whiskers and doing touch-ups, among other things.
A detachable blade comes with the clipper but that does not tell the full story. Users will be glad to know that the single blade in the clipper can be adjusted to five different sizes as the grooming job calls for.
Since it runs on battery, Wahl made sure their unit will run for a full 80 minutes (from full charge) before it requires another charge. Speaking of charging, it only takes 75 minutes to return the battery to it full capacity.
Relatively lightweight at about eight (8) ounces, you won’t have to worry about wrist fatigue with this one.
5. Maxshop Rechargeable Cat’s Grooming Kit
708+ customer reviews
Yet another one which goes the way of offering you a full kit is this Rechargeable Cat’s Grooming Kit from Maxshop. Rated at 240V max, the main thing in the package is the cordless clipper for your cat.
Inside the toolkit is also a power adapter for charging, one cleaning brush and some comb attachments, to mention but a few. Available in color options of gold and black, it is relatively light at 650 grams
The precision motor used for the build has a low vibration frequency which contributes to its lowly noise too. In furtherance of that, you will also find out that the adjustable hair combs make it easier to address the needs of cats with various fur lengths.
The major downside we see with this unit is in its charge period. Requiring anywhere between 4 – 5 hours before it gets to full charge, use time is just at 70 minutes. If that can be lived with, you’ll find the sharp blades useful for a long time. Made easily detachable too, cleaning and changing of the said blades is almost a breeze.
6 LivingExpress Pet – Best price for Grooming Kit
175+ customer reviews
While looking at the best cat hair clippers to buy, the LivingExpress Pet Grooming Kit changes the game by offering you so much more value for your money. While there is a cat hair grooming clipper in there, you also get de-shedding tools, a cleaning comb and nail clippers in the same box.
Concentrating on the hair clipper, we have a lot of interesting things to talk about. Starting with the cordless design, it is now unnecessary to worry about replacing batteries or dealing with long wires.
It is also fully rechargeable in a bid to keep its power up. What we are not pleased with is that it also takes as much as 5 hours to make a single full charge. Compared to the use time of a little over an hour, we are not exactly pleased with that return.
What we are pleased with though are the titanium blades on the machine. The metal guarantees durability. When it does require changing, you will find the teeth easily detachable.
At the mention of teeth, we are brought to the realization that there are 4 attachment combs in the box too. For the best feel, they have been made with high-quality ceramic.
If your cat is one which used to be afraid of haircuts, that could be due to the unnecessary noise and buzzing of clippers. Maintained at a maximum noise level of 50dB, this won’t be something you have to worry about anymore.
7. OMORC Professional – Best Pet Clippers Low Noise
30+ customer reviews
Having seen a good number of rechargeable cat clippers on this list before, you might not be impressed with the knowledge of this OMORC Professional Pet Clipper also featuring that kind of technology. What would get you interested however is the knowledge that this unit has a total of 8 comb guides to call its own.
The combs are made of ceramic while the blade is developed with titanium metal. Combined, they make the ideal combination for a good grooming time.
Furthermore, there’s a total of 5 dials for the speed. When the pet hair starts getting shorter, speed levels can be tuned to make it even more precise.
The best part of this tool has to be the inclusion of LED indicators. A blue light signifies that the clipper is in normal working conditions, the red/ flashing light tells you that the battery is going critically low while a stable red light indicates charging.
Finally, a solid green light informs you when the clipper’s battery is at a full charge.
Although the charging time takes as long as 3 hours, it is still manageable that the running time is some four hours. Under the hood is a copper axis motor to ensure longevity. Besides that, the choice of motor metal also ensures the clipper works with less noise.
Looking at the figures, noise and vibrations are kept at 58dB
8. ENJOY Pet – Best Cat and Dog Shaver Kit about price
328+ customer reviews
One would expect a cat clipper to come out of the box when the ENJOY Pet Cat Shaver Kit arrives, but one might not be expecting a combination of other tools and features that comes with it.
In the same box is a charging adapter which make sure the clipper stays cordless and compact alongside a stainless-steel pair of scissors. There are additional comb teeth for different hair levels coupled with one cleaning brush.
The spec sheet of this clipper suggests that there is a 2000mAh capacity battery someplace under the hood. Taking no less than 3 – 4 hours to get a full charge, it makes up for that by offering as much as a 7-hour runtime.
That is more than 6 times the running time of other pet clippers on the average. Running with the aid of a 15W motor, the clipper is able to benefit from power generated at the speed of 9000 revolutions per minute.
At that speed, it would not be out of place if there was some noise to come with it. Surprisingly, ENJOY has been able to keep the buzzing and sounds of their clipper to between 50 dB – 60 dB. Further eliminating noise is the silencer technology which works to reduce the friction between the blades.
Even though there are comb attachments to deal with different types of hair, a 33 teeth arrangement on the main titanium blade is purely amazing. To cap it all off, every buyer gets a free gift included in their package
Tips on Cutting your Cat’s Hair with a Clipper
Grooming your cat the right way with any one of these clippers require a bit of expertise… and a good knowledge of the best practices. Over time, we have found these six to be the most important best practices to consider before taking a clipper to your cat’s fur for any reason at all.
When cutting, ensure you go with the flow of the cat’s hair and not against it. That ensures you get the cleanest cuts possible. Otherwise, you’ll be left with patches of fur that are looking chopped up, very unkempt and even, ugly to look at.
Every blade looks like they are made equal. What you might not know is that some of those blades are made more equal than others. This is in the sense that some blades are better suited for some purposes than others.
Before cutting, check the stamps on the back of the blade you’re using to help better decide what fits your cat’s coat.
As a rule, blade numbers are always an inverse of what length of hair would result from using them. That means the shorter haircuts will be done with the larger blade numbers and longer haircuts will be done with shorter.
In perspective, blades #7 and #10 will give your cat’s hair a shorter look after the cut is done than a blade #5 would.
The tip of the blade should be held down against the skin while the back is a little bit raised for the best cutting. Failure to do this could result in accidents such as cutting of your cat’s skin. In the same vein, you should try to hold the skin area you’re working on taut.
Do this gently so that it doesn’t hurt the cat but just enough that the blade can skip over the skin comfortably and not have to nick your cat in any way.
A shorter blade or comb will make you do less finishing works on the cat’s coat when you’re done with the cutting. Using a longer comb will instead result in your doing a lot of finishing with scissors.
For those that are uncomfortable doing scissoring work, learn to use shorter combs instead.
5 Sensitive areas
You don’t want to irritate the cat. In that light, go for a size 10 blade when you are shaving around such sensitive areas as the armpit, sanitary areas, front of the eyes, etc.
When working with a clipper, try to touch the blade at intervals to determine the temperature. Depending on the manufacturer of your equipment, clipper blades can get hot really fast and hurt your cat.
You can get a cooling spray (if it doesn’t already come with the package) for such times
